Between goats and dust: rural youth exodus in western Argentina
Dialog with Tato Moreno, director and producer of ARREO.

Mittwoch, 24.05.2017, 13:30-15:00 Uhr, Universität Innsbruck, SR 60107, Bruno-Sander-Haus, 1. Stock (über der Bibliothek), Innrain 52f, Innsbruck
Moderation: Fernando Ruiz Peyré

In his movie ARREO, Tato Moreno follows a family of proud Argentine gauchos on an arduous goat herding journey through the High Andes, capturing both their reflections on the threat “progress” poses to their livelihood, and the essence and beauty of upland rural life.

Arreo represents the opportunity to learn about a little-known culture and to become aware of the ways in which modernity threatens it. The natural beauty from beginning to end turns out to be the most pleasant learning environment anyone could hope for.

Inspired by scenes of the documentary and the experiences of Tato Moreno, we will discuss the opportunities and limitations for young people in peripheral rural areas in Argentina (and South America).

Der Film ARREO wird im Rahmen des 26. Internationalen Filmfestival Innsbrucks am 25.05.2017, um 19 Uhr, in CINEMATOGRAPH gezeigt.
